Diversity Has Got Talent: Dance Troupe Diversity A Good Example For Businesses

Winning dance troupe Diversity comes to the most diverse city in the country tonight as the Britain's Got Talent tour opens at the Birmingham NIA.

The dance group have been described as a great example of diversity in our country and Birmingham Professional DiverCity agrees, adding that Birmingham business should continue to follow suit and remain focused on the diversity agenda to ensure they retain the best of all available talent - especially in these difficult economic times.

Aaron Reid, executive director at Divercity said, "Diversity is not just a matter of race. Britain's Got Talent showed that talent comes in many different guises and if allowed to flourish can contribute to in ways we are yet to imagine.
"The Apprentice continued this theme with women dominating the final stages.

"We all pre-judge and we all have prejudice. Perhaps the best example of this occurred when Susan Boyle was initially dismissed as a contender but went on to take second place and win global recognition. Maybe there is a Susan Boyle already working for you or trying to work for your organisation.

"For businesses to benefit from the diversity of our workforce it must keep these issues high on the agenda. Diversity is currently busier than ever with enquiries from companies who realise that continuing to do diversity in a downturn will ensure that they emerge stronger in the long-term. Companies are taking advantage of the down time to get their house in order.

"Divercity delivers the national equality kitemarks; Equality Assured and Diversity Assured Recruitment which are both recognised ways for companies to demonstrate diversity best practice and ensure that diversity continues to contribute to the bottom line.

"There has ever been a better time to do diversity - if businesses don't adopt good practice now they will inevitably struggle in the long term. In order for companies to remain productive and competitive throughout the downturn, employing and motivating the best of all available applicants is crucial to ensure your business has got talent."
